Why the TR-300+ blower cuts out on motor start despite a charged pack
The TR-300+ blower motor draws a short inrush current spike at start-up that can exceed the overcurrent threshold of a degraded or poorly matched BMS. When that threshold trips, the pack shuts output before the motor reaches running speed — the unit goes dark even though the battery shows charge. A fresh pack with a correctly rated BMS clears this. If the problem persists after fitting a new battery, check that the battery bay contacts are clean and seating fully, as a high-resistance connection amplifies the apparent current spike seen by the BMS.
Pack will not charge after the PAPR sat unused for several months
Li-ion cells that self-discharge below approximately 2.5V per cell (7.5V total for a 3S pack) cause the BMS to enter deep-discharge lockout — the charger sees no response and the unit will not power on. Connect the TR-830 pack to the OEM charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without disconnecting; some chargers apply a low-current recovery pulse before resuming normal charge. If the charger LED remains in fault state after 45 minutes, the cells have dropped below recoverable threshold and the pack needs replacement. A healthy pack that has been stored should recover to a normal charge cycle within that window.
