The B1-770 fuel gauge IC stores a charge map calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The B1-770 charge IC gates fast-charge negotiation until it completes one accepted charge cycle with the new cell. On the first charge after a swap, the charger typically falls back to standard rate. This is the IC confirming the cell's impedance before allowing higher current. Charge fully once at standard rate, then disconnect and reconnect — fast charge protocol resumes on the second cycle.
