Acer Liquid Z520 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-A12)
This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion cell for the Acer Liquid Z520 and Liquid Z520 Dual SIM smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers BAT-A12, BAT-A12(1ICP4/51/65), and KT.00104.002. If your original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone dies unexpectedly, this is the direct swap.
- Liquid Z520 and Z520 Dual SIM compatibility: Both variants use the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The cell footprint is 69.06 × 52.20 × 4.47 mm — matching the OEM tray with no modification required.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Liquid Z520 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without error, completed full charge termination cleanly, and held stable voltage through screen-on and modem-active load.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After installing this battery, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its readings to the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC starts pushing higher current.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Liquid Z520 after a cell swap
The Liquid Z520's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge model calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile causes the IC to misread remaining capacity. When the modem transmits or the screen brightness spikes, actual cell voltage drops below the hardware cutoff threshold — even though the OS still reports 20–30%. One full slow-rate discharge-charge cycle rewrites the coulomb counter baseline and eliminates these phantom shutdowns.
Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell during transit or shelf time, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage and refuses to pass current to the device. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it connected for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point the BMS unlocks and the phone boots normally.
