This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG ZB5106 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It replaces OEM part numbers 4055499224, 4055251666, and F692864. When the original cells degrade, suction power drops noticeably — this battery restores the vacuum to its rated operating voltage.
- ZB5106 fitment: The ZB5106 runs a 7.2V Ni-MH cell pack with a specific connector orientation and physical envelope. This replacement matches the original dimensions (52.50 × 42.80 × 28.20mm), voltage rail, and cell count so the motor controller sees the correct supply from first use.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through load and recovery on a vacuum motor circuit at 7.2V. The cells reached rated capacity within three charge-discharge cycles, and the BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold without premature trip.
- Dock charging on the ZB5106: Do not leave the ZB5106 sitting on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full and remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
Ni-MH cells lose voltage under load faster than the indicator circuit can track when cells are aged or partially degraded. On the ZB5106, the motor draws higher current the moment suction is restricted — a clogged filter makes this worse. The indicator reads average resting voltage, not load voltage, so it stays green while the motor is already voltage-starved. Check and clear the filter first, then test under load — if suction still drops early, the cells are the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor works harder to maintain airflow and draws sustained current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cells, then resets after the pack cools slightly. Clean the filter and check for blockages in the suction path — if the cutout continues on a clear airway, the cell pack is no longer holding enough capacity to supply the motor's peak draw, and replacement is the fix.
