This is a 4.8V, 500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Air Shields-Vickers Minolta Jaundice Meter. It replaces OEM part numbers 120093 and BATT/110093. The cell pack matches the original voltage rail and connector configuration used in this clinical diagnostic instrument.
- Minolta Jaundice Meter platform: This meter draws a consistent low-current load during transcutaneous bilirubin readings. The 4.8V Ni-MH pack matches the voltage rail the device expects — substituting a different chemistry or voltage causes the BMS to flag a fault during the power-on self-test sequence.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
A new Ni-MH cell pack at full charge can still fail the Jaundice Meter's internal voltage threshold check if the BMS has not yet completed a learn cycle. The device boot routine measures both resting voltage and internal resistance — a fresh cell straight from packaging may read slightly outside the calibrated OEM window. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before relying on the meter clinically. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its thresholds and the boot sequence completes normally.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
This alarm is a BMS chemistry-check response, not a capacity failure. The Jaundice Meter's charge controller was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original OEM cell. A replacement cell presents a slightly different curve in the first few cycles, sitting just below the alarm threshold even at full charge. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle — the BMS re-maps the curve and the alarm clears. After conditioning, resting cell voltage should read at or above 4.8V before use.
