Alcatel DECT base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm a valid NiMH cell is seated. The fix is to apply a brief trickle charge from an external AAA NiMH charger for 20–30 minutes to raise the cell above roughly 1.0V. Once the base detects a valid voltage, it takes over and completes the charge normally.
Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement
Removing the battery from a 4068-series handset cuts power to the volatile memory that stores the DECT subscription link. When the new pack goes in, the handset may power on but fail to register with the base, showing no line or a searching icon. Re-register the handset using the base station's paging or registration button — on most Alcatel 4068 bases this means holding the button for five seconds until the LED flashes.
