Alcatel One Touch Idol 3C — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp029C7)
This is a 3.85V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Alcatel One Touch Idol 3C and One Touch Idol 3C TD-LTE smartphones. It uses OEM part number TLp029C7 and fits OT-5606 and OT5026D variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- OT-5606 and OT5026D compatibility: These variants share the same 3.85V power rail, physical footprint, and BMS handshake protocol as the standard Idol 3C. One battery fits all listed models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Idol 3C platform and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the device charge IC. Charging engaged cleanly, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at the low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after installation. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle at standard rate lets it re-map against the new cell before high-current charging is applied.
Why the Idol 3C reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Idol 3C uses a coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC to estimate state of charge. That counter builds its model against the discharge curve of the original cell over hundreds of cycles. When a new cell goes in, the old curve no longer matches, so the reported percentage drifts — sometimes reading 40% when the cell is near empty. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve. After that cycle, percentage accuracy normalises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a current spike that the cell cannot sustain while maintaining voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold — a voltage cliff rather than a dead cell. The BMS reads the voltage drop as a critical low-cell event and cuts output instantly, even though the reported percentage looks safe. It is common in the first few cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell before the electrolyte fully wets the electrode stack. Run two to three full discharge-charge cycles and the cliff typically shifts below 10%.
