This tablet runs a 7-inch IPS display alongside Wi-Fi and background app activity simultaneously. Under that combined load, voltage drops sharply below a threshold the BMS reads as critically low, even when the percentage gauge still shows 15–25%. The BMS trips a protective cutoff before the gauge catches up. After completing one full calibration cycle on the new cell — full discharge to shutoff, then uninterrupted charge to 100% — the fuel gauge IC re-maps the voltage curve and this false-floor cutoff stops occurring.
Fast charging unavailable after battery swap on One Touch POP 7
Some users find the tablet reverts to standard 5V charging after a battery replacement. The charge IC negotiates the fast-charge protocol on the first accepted charge cycle, not at boot. If you swapped the cell and immediately tested charge speed, the negotiation likely hadn't completed. Plug into the original Alcatel charger, let the tablet charge uninterrupted from under 10% to full, and fast-charge negotiation re-establishes at the correct voltage tier.
