Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the 3082X after a cell swap
The 3082X fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC associates with near-empty, it triggers a protective shutdown — even though actual charge remains. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff followed by a complete charge without interruption, and the coulomb counter will re-anchor to the new cell's actual capacity. After that cycle, reported percentage and real charge level align.
Phone warm near the battery compartment during first few charges
A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first one to three charge cycles, the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat while current flows into higher resistance — this is normal and temporary. If the phone feels hot rather than warm, or heat continues past the third full charge, check that the charge IC has not locked into fast-charge mode against an uncalibrated cell. Force a standard 5V/1A charge session and monitor whether temperature drops.
