Alinco DJ-CRX6 / DJ-CRX7 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EBP-107)
This is a 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement for the Alinco EBP-107 battery pack. It fits the DJ-CRX6, DJ-CRX7, and DJ-CRX7HE handheld transceivers — compact VHF/UHF radios used in emergency response, outdoor, and professional field operations. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.
- DJ-CRX6, DJ-CRX7, DJ-CRX7HE compatibility: All three models share the same 7.4V nominal rail, physical housing dimensions, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol across this series is identical, so one cell pack covers the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on the DJ-CRX7 dock and monitored BMS response during PTT transmit bursts. The protection circuit held stable across repeated high-draw spikes without tripping into overcurrent lockout.
- First insertion on the dock: If the charger shows a fault indicator on first seating, remove the pack and wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The EBP-107 platform requires a clean contact cycle for the dock to accept the BMS handshake and begin charging.
Why the DJ-CRX6 cuts out mid-transmission on a new EBP-107
During PTT, the DJ-CRX6 draws a sharp current spike to drive the RF output stage — often 2–3× the standby draw. A new pack shipped at storage voltage (typically 3.7–3.8V per cell) has not yet been fully conditioned, so its internal impedance is temporarily higher than a cycled cell. That elevated impedance causes a brief voltage sag that the BMS reads as an overcurrent event and responds by cutting output. One full charge-discharge cycle through the dock normalises cell impedance and eliminates the cutout.

The DJ-CRX series uses a simple voltage-threshold bar display — each bar corresponds to a specific resting voltage band. A new pack at storage voltage sits below the threshold for a full-bar reading, even though the cell capacity is intact. This is not a fault with the pack. Place the battery in the dock for a complete charge cycle, and the indicator will reflect the correct level once resting voltage reaches approximately 8.3–8.4V.
