This is a 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Angel AJ5808A and AJ5808 portable medical devices. It replaces the OEM part TMK-AA200E and restores power to the unit when the original cell has degraded. Capacity is rated at 24Wh, matching the original specification.
- AJ5808A and AJ5808 platform fit: Both models share the same 12V power rail, connector format, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why one cell covers both. The pack dimensions — 70.50 x 49.40 x 28.46mm — match the OEM bay with no modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and load discharge on the AJ5808 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, completed the handshake, and held voltage within the expected tolerance band across the full discharge curve.
- Startup self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The AJ5808 runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power mid-cycle writes a false battery fault to the log that persists until the next clean reboot.
Device not completing boot sequence on new battery
The AJ5808 boot sequence includes a battery verification step that checks cell voltage against a stored threshold. A new Ni-MH cell shipped at partial state of charge can read below that threshold, causing the device to halt before completing startup. This is not a faulty pack — it is a voltage floor check. Charge the battery fully before the first boot attempt, and the sequence will complete normally.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
The AJ5808 BMS uses charge history to set its low-battery alarm threshold, and a fresh cell has no history yet. On the first cycle, the BMS may flag a low-battery alarm even when the pack is fully charged, because it hasn't completed a learn cycle to calibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears at the correct threshold.
