- SP-1000 platform fit: The SP-1000 runs a 9.6V Ni-MH cell pack with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to that voltage rail. This replacement matches that rail. The BMS will authenticate on first boot, but it runs a verification cycle — let it complete before assuming a fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell pack through full charge-discharge sequences and monitored BMS response at each stage. The pack cleared self-test thresholds after one full conditioning cycle. Initial capacity registration came in at spec on the second cycle.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the SP-1000 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical devices run BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot. Do not disconnect during the first boot cycle.
SP-1000 not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The SP-1000's boot sequence includes a BMS learn step that checks cell voltage against stored OEM thresholds. A new Ni-MH pack may sit just below the pass threshold on first power-on, especially after storage. The device interprets this as a battery fault and halts the boot. Run one full charge cycle — charge to completion, allow full discharge under normal use, then recharge — before treating the fault as real.
Charge indicator stalling below 100% on first charge
The SP-1000's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or unfamiliar cell pack. This causes the charge indicator to stall — typically between 85% and 95% — on the first charge attempt. It is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Complete the first full charge without interrupting it, and the charge IC recalibrates its ceiling for subsequent cycles. The indicator will reach 100% from the second charge onward.
