This is an 8.4V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AP Agri-Alert 800EZK agricultural alarm system. It replaces OEM part 23090433 and fits the Agri-Alert 800EZK and Agri-Alert 800EZK Alarm System. The Agri-Alert 800EZK monitors farm perimeters and detects intrusions — this battery is its backup power source.

The 800EZK panel stores zone programming in memory that relies on backup battery voltage staying above a minimum threshold during mains failure. A freshly installed Ni-MH cell that has not yet completed a full conditioning cycle may sit below that threshold — typically around 7.8V — when mains power drops. The panel then treats the backup as absent and resets to factory defaults to protect itself. Fit the new cell, restore mains power, and allow 48 hours of uninterrupted charging before testing the backup function.

This is a BMS reporting delay issue, not a faulty cell. The 800EZK panel samples battery voltage during and just after installation, when a new Ni-MH cell has not yet reached full float charge. It reads a suppressed open-circuit voltage — often 7.9V to 8.1V — and logs a low-battery event. Leave the panel on mains power for 24 to 48 hours. After a full float cycle, the cell stabilises at or above 8.4V and the fault clears on the next panel self-test.
