Apple iPhone 12 Mini — 3.83V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2471)
This 3.83V Li-Polymer cell replaces the original A2471 battery in the Apple iPhone 12 Mini. Capacity is 2200mAh (8.43Wh), matching the original cell's footprint at 78.00 × 37.25 × 4.60mm. It fits the 12 Mini only — not the standard iPhone 12 or 12 Pro.
- iPhone 12 Mini fit confirmed: The 12 Mini runs a narrower battery bay than any other iPhone 12 variant. This cell matches that exact footprint and connector orientation, so the flex cable seats without bending.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a 12 Mini logic board. The BMS handshake completed without error codes, and the charge IC accepted current from both 5W and 20W USB-PD adapters.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current USB-PD pushes into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on a replacement cell
The iPhone 12 Mini's modem and display pull sharp current spikes that expose voltage cliffs in a fresh cell the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet profiled. When voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold under that load, the phone shuts off even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. This is not a faulty cell — it is an uncalibrated fuel gauge reading a new discharge curve against an old reference. Run one full discharge to below 5% and a full charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference and the shutdowns stop.
USB-PD fast charge not accepted on the first cycle after a swap
After installation, some 12 Mini units refuse fast charge on the first session — the phone draws only 5W from a 20W adapter. The charge IC on the logic board applies a reduced current profile to any cell it hasn't seen before, as a precaution against charging into an unknown state-of-charge. This clears automatically after the first full charge cycle completes at the lower rate. Plug into a 20W USB-PD adapter for the second charge session and fast charge will engage at the expected rate.
