This is a 3.83V, 2550mAh lithium-polymer cell built to the A2471 specification for the iPhone 12 Mini. It restores full operational capacity to a device where the original cell has degraded through repeated charge cycles. Fits the iPhone 12 Mini only — not compatible with standard iPhone 12 or any other model in the 12 lineup.
- iPhone 12 Mini cell spec: The 12 Mini uses a compact form factor that demands a tightly dimensioned cell — 79.30 × 38.00 × 4.80mm. The A2471 part number maps directly to Apple's BMS handshake requirements for this chassis. Any deviation in cell dimensions or connector pinout causes the OS to reject the battery entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an iPhone 12 Mini. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC engaged at the expected current profile across standard and fast-charge modes.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle before resuming normal use. This allows the fuel gauge IC to map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve — skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings for the first several cycles.
Why the iPhone 12 Mini reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
Apple's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The IC keeps using the old model until it recalibrates. One full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a complete charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter against the new cell and brings percentage reporting back into line.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a high burst of current and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a voltage cliff, not a capacity problem. The fuel gauge IC has not yet learned where the new cell's voltage drops steeply under load. Run two to three full discharge-charge cycles and the IC recalibrates its low-voltage cutoff model. If shutdowns persist past cycle three, check that cell voltage holds above 3.5V under screen-on load.
