Why macOS reports poor battery health immediately after replacement
The MacBook Pro's System Management Controller stores battery health data in EEPROM — it does not reset when you physically swap the cell. When a battery cell has aged past a certain point, it cannot sustain voltage under the combined load of the Core i7 processor at full speed plus the display backlight.
