Archos Gmini 120 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PMPARG120)
This 3.7V 1500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Archos Gmini 120 portable media player. It fits the compact handheld unit that plays both digital audio and video. Voltage and capacity match the original PMPARG120 specification exactly.

- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the Gmini 120 platform. The BMS accepted charge current normally, held the protection threshold at low voltage, and did not trip during audio and video playback.
- First charge after installation: The Gmini 120 can enter deep discharge protection after sitting unused with a depleted cell. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — this lets the circuit trickle enough voltage into the cell to exit protection mode and accept a normal charge current.
Battery percentage jumping after swapping the cell on a Gmini 120
The Gmini 120 reads battery level by measuring cell voltage against fixed thresholds — it has no fuel gauge IC that learns capacity. After a cell swap, the device has no stored reference for the new cell's discharge curve. This causes the percentage indicator to jump or skip, especially in the lower third of the charge. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles and the readings will stabilise as the voltage thresholds align with the new cell's behaviour.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator reaches empty
The audio amplifier in the Gmini 120 draws a brief current spike each time it processes a new audio frame. At the tail end of discharge, cell voltage sags under that load and can drop below the BMS cutoff threshold — even when the indicator still shows a remaining charge. This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. If playback cuts out repeatedly near the end of a charge, do a full charge cycle and avoid running the player below the point where you see it occur. If the cell is genuinely degraded, a fresh 1500mAh cell will restore the voltage headroom at end-of-discharge to approximately 3.2V under load.
