- C201 series fit: The ChromeBook C201, C201P, and C201PA all share the same battery bay dimensions, 7.6V two-cell Li-Polymer configuration, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across these variants, so one cell covers the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a C201PA chassis and confirmed the BMS initialised correctly on first boot, charge acceptance began immediately, and the protection circuit tripped at the correct over-discharge threshold without triggering a false low-voltage cutoff.

Why the C201PA shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The Chrome OS fuel gauge IC carries over learned discharge curves from the old, degraded cell. When a new cell is installed, those curves no longer match actual chemistry behaviour. The system reads voltage against the old model, hits a miscalculated cliff, and issues a shutdown command well before the cell is empty. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge cycle re-trains the IC against the new cell's actual voltage profile and eliminates the early cutoff.
BIOS or Chrome OS reporting the replacement battery as poor health or unknown
The health flag comes from EEPROM data written during the battery learn cycle — after a swap, the system is still reading the old cell's accumulated wear data. This is not a fault with the new cell. Boot into Chrome OS, open the crosh terminal, and run battery_test 1 to confirm the cell is charging and discharging correctly. Run one full calibration cycle as described above and the health status will update to reflect the new cell's actual state.
