Asus FX-PLUS / GL552 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A41N1424)
This is a 14.8V 2200mAh (32.56Wh) Li-ion battery for the Asus FX-PLUS, GL552, GL552J, and GL552JX series notebooks. It replaces OEM part number A41N1424. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or fails to power the system off AC mains.
- FX-PLUS and GL552 platform fit: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell swap covers the full GL552 family without firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an FX-PLUS unit. The BMS communicated correctly with the EC, reported accurate state-of-charge, and did not trip a protection cutoff during normal CPU and display load.
- Post-install calibration on the FX-PLUS: After fitting, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

The GL552 EC reads health data from the cell's EEPROM and compares it against a stored baseline from the old battery. A fresh cell has different EEPROM values, so the EC flags it as degraded before any calibration has run. This is a firmware interpretation issue, not a cell defect. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the baseline and the warning clears on the next boot.

Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC updates its estimate. When the cell hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff, the system shuts down even though the OS still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC needs two or three full calibration cycles against the new cell to track the voltage curve accurately. Discharge fully to hibernate each time, charge to 100%, and the shutdown threshold will align with the displayed percentage.
