Under full CPU and display draw, the cell voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts, and the system hits the low-voltage trip point while the OS still shows 20–30%. Two to three full discharge-to-charge calibration cycles bring the fuel gauge IC back into alignment with the actual cell chemistry. After calibration, the cutoff should not occur above 5–8% remaining.
