The ME70CX draws a combined load from the display backlight and Wi-Fi radio that causes a sharp voltage sag at low state-of-charge. The fuel gauge IC, still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, misreads the voltage cliff and triggers an emergency shutdown before the percentage reaches zero. The fix is one full recalibration cycle — discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the fuel gauge maps the new cell's curve correctly and the early shutdowns stop.
Fast charging unavailable on the ME70CX after a battery swap
The charge IC on the ME70CX uses a negotiation step at the start of the first charge cycle to confirm cell parameters before enabling higher charge rates. On a new cell, this negotiation sometimes defaults to standard rate until one complete charge cycle is accepted. Plug in using the original charger and cable — third-party cables with high resistance can mask the negotiation signal. After one full charge to 100%, the charge IC locks in the correct profile and fast charging becomes available again.
