Asus N50 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A32-N50)

- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an N50 unit. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge termination triggered at full capacity, and the protection circuit responded normally to load.
- First-cycle reset on the N50: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
Why the N50 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The N50 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When you swap to a new cell, that EEPROM data is gone and the BIOS flags the battery as unknown or degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run the full discharge-to-hibernate then full charge cycle and the BIOS recalibrates against the new cell's actual capacity. After two or three full cycles, the health indicator normalises.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and misreads the new cell's charge state under load. Under combined CPU and display load, the N50 hits what appears to be a voltage cliff and shuts down — even though real capacity remains. Run three full discharge and charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC has enough data points to track the new cell accurately, and the early shutdowns stop.
