Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 Series — 15.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C41N1802)
This is a 15.4V, 4850mAh (74.69Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Asus ROG GX701GVR-EV001T, GX701GX-EV081T, GX701GWR-EV003T, and GX735GVR-EV015T, among others. It uses OEM part numbers C41N1802 and 0B200-03140100. It replaces the original 4-cell pack when the laptop no longer holds adequate charge during portable use.
- GX701 and GX735 platform compatibility: These models share the same 15.4V four-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The ROG GX701 and GX735 lines use the same power rail configuration, so C41N1802 covers the full series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a GX701 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly, the fuel gauge IC registered the new capacity without error, and the protection circuit held at both thermal and voltage thresholds under sustained CPU and GPU load.
- Post-install calibration on ROG gaming laptops: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff under normal load, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on ROG systems.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installation
The ROG GX701 reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the original battery pack. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares its stored reference data against the fresh cell and flags a mismatch as degraded health. This is a firmware-side artefact, not a cell fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS learn cycle and rewrites the health register. After two to three cycles, the reported health figure normalises to reflect the new cell's actual state.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and still triggers a low-voltage shutdown at the wrong threshold. Under full CPU and GPU load, the GX701's draw can exceed 60W from the battery alone, which causes a rapid voltage sag the uncalibrated gauge misreads as imminent cutoff. Run two full discharge cycles — all the way to automatic hibernate — then charge to 100% each time. By the third cycle the fuel gauge tracks accurately and shutdown should not occur until the cell reaches approximately 3.0V per cell.
