This is a 3.85V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Asus ZenFone 3 Laser (ZC551KL). It replaces OEM part numbers C11P1606 and 0B200-02250000. If your ZenFone 3 Laser shuts down unexpectedly, drains fast, or won't hold a charge, this cell restores full function without replacing the handset.
- ZenFone 3 Laser / ZC551KL fitment: Both model names refer to the same device. The ZC551KL is the regional SKU designation. This battery matches the connector pinout, physical dimensions (71.80 × 62.35 × 3.74mm), and BMS communication protocol that the ZenFone 3 Laser's charge IC expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a ZC551KL unit. The BMS accepted full charge termination correctly, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff without false triggering under screen and modem load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the ZenFone 3 Laser after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still references the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC hasn't mapped yet, it misreads remaining capacity and triggers an emergency shutdown. The phone cuts power even though the cell has charge left. Running one full discharge to 0% — letting the phone shut off naturally — then charging uninterrupted to 100% teaches the coulomb counter the new curve. After that cycle, the shutdown-at-30% behaviour typically stops.
Phone not powering on after the battery sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells that drop below approximately 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout to prevent cell damage during recovery charging. A phone that won't respond to the power button after long storage is almost always in this state. Connect the device to a wall adapter — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing power. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS threshold, at which point normal charging resumes. If the device still shows no response after 45 minutes on a wall adapter, check that the charge port flex cable is seated correctly.
