The Personalguide's firmware initialisation sequence pulls a short high-current burst at startup to load the audio index from flash. The unit isn't faulty — it simply lacks enough voltage to complete the startup draw. Place it in the docking cradle for at least one full charge cycle, then power on. If the cradle indicator light doesn't respond, check cradle contact pins for oxidation before assuming the battery is at fault.
Audioguide unit draining faster than expected between visitor sessions
Personalguide units left powered on between sessions continue drawing current through the audio controller and display backlight even when idle. A degraded original cell accelerates this pattern, but a fresh 1100mAh cell can still deplete quickly if units are not docked between tours. Check whether the fleet management cradles are making reliable contact — poor dock seating means cells charge partially and start each session below full capacity. Confirm each unit reads at or above 4.1V before distributing to visitors.
