Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if voltage drops below roughly 5.4V the BMS enters a protection state and refuses to initiate a normal boot. The pump will show no response or a blank screen. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on — this brings the cell above the BMS recovery threshold. If the device still does not boot after a full charge, check that the battery contacts are seated and clean.
