Why the BeoPlay H9i cuts out mid-track on a new battery
The H9i runs active noise cancellation, Bluetooth, and audio amplification simultaneously — three concurrent draws from a single 650mAh cell. If the replacement cell ships at storage voltage (around 3.6–3.7V), the BMS can interpret transient load spikes as an undervoltage event and cut output before the cell is truly depleted. This is not a fault with the battery or the headset. One full charge cycle from the cradle brings the cell to 4.2V and allows the BMS to map its actual capacity, eliminating false cutoffs.
Charging cradle shows full charge but headset dies after short use
This happens when the cell arrives at storage voltage and the cradle's charge controller reads the resting voltage as near-full rather than triggering a proper charge cycle. The headset then runs on a partially charged cell while the indicator shows 100%. Seat the headset in the cradle, wait for the charging LED to cycle through its sequence, then leave it undisturbed for a full charge pass. Once the cell reaches 4.2V and the BMS logs it, the fuel gauge will report accurately from the next use onward.
