This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Bang & Olufsen Beosound 3 portable speaker. It replaces OEM part HHR-150AAC8 L4x2 and PA-PN0094.R003. When the original pack degrades and the speaker stops holding a charge through a listening session, this is the direct swap.
- Beosound 3 pack format: The Beosound 3 uses a long, narrow 8-cell Ni-MH stick pack at 9.6V nominal. The cell count and connector orientation are specific to this speaker — substitute packs with different cell arrangements will not fit the internal bay or meet the charge circuit's voltage window.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the Beosound 3 charge circuit. The speaker accepted charge without fault codes, the cells reached full voltage without thermal runaway, and audio output remained stable through the discharge curve.

Running the speaker until it shuts off before recharging helps prevent voltage depression across individual cells, which is the main cause of early capacity loss in this pack format.
Why the Beosound 3 shows full charge but audio fades within an hour
Ni-MH packs made up of multiple series cells can develop individual cell imbalance over time. One weak cell drags the total pack voltage down faster than the charge indicator expects. The speaker's charge circuit reads the combined voltage at rest, which looks normal, but under load the weak cell collapses first. The result is early audio fade or shutdown while the indicator still reads high. Replacing the pack restores even cell voltages across all eight cells.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
The Beosound 3 amplifier draws peak current during loud passages. An aged Ni-MH pack with elevated internal resistance cannot sustain that current spike without voltage sag. When pack voltage dips below the amplifier's stable operating threshold, the output clips before the speaker registers a low-battery state. This is not a speaker fault — it is the pack's internal resistance too high to handle dynamic load. A new pack with low internal resistance holds voltage flat under the same current draw. Check that the replacement pack measures above 9.0V under load during playback.
