This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. The X5's modem and display pull enough current at once that a new, uncalibrated cell can sag below the shutdown threshold even when the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. The phone's protection circuit interprets the voltage sag as a fault and cuts power. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate lets the coulomb counter map the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the shutdowns stop.

The Bea-fon X5 fuel gauge IC stores the discharge curve of the original cell in its calibration table. A replacement cell with even slightly different internal impedance will cause the percentage reading to drift, jump, or plateau. The fix is straightforward: run the battery down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. After one complete cycle the fuel gauge maps the new cell curve and percentage tracking stabilises. If erratic readings continue past two cycles, check that the NTC thermistor tab is seated flat against the cell surface.
