Becker SK460 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (480 722 0014 0)
This is a 12V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Becker SK460 gate drive and access control units. It fits the SK460 6Nm and SK460 10Nm actuators, as well as Becker models 40340002330 and 40340002340. Capacity is 3000mAh (36Wh) — matched to the original specification.
- SK460 6Nm and 10Nm compatibility: Both torque variants of the SK460 run the same 12V internal power rail with an identical connector pinout and cell format (428 × 25 × 22.3mm). The BMS on each unit performs the same charge handshake, so one cell SKU covers both drive ratings.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SK460 charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the Ni-MH charge curve without triggering a fault state. Cell voltage held within the expected window across full charge and discharge cycles.
- Post-installation gate re-initialisation: After fitting this battery, run the SK460 through a full open-close calibration cycle before relying on position limits. The actuator controller can lose end-stop memory during a power interruption and will need to relearn travel limits from scratch.
Why the SK460 stalls mid-travel after a battery swap
The SK460 motor controller monitors supply voltage continuously during gate movement. If the replacement cell has not been charged before installation, its resting voltage may sit low enough to trigger the under-voltage cutoff the moment the motor draws current on startup. The controller interprets this as a fault, not a dead battery, and halts travel. Charge the new cell fully before fitting it — the SK460 expects at least 13.5V at the terminals when the motor engages.

Ni-MH cells leave storage at a reduced voltage — typically 10.5–11V — which sits below the SK460's low-battery alert threshold. The drive unit reads this as a weak battery even though the cell is new and undamaged. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Connect the drive to mains power and allow the onboard charger to bring the cell to full charge before dismissing the alert.
