Becker Transit 7SL EU — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EU554751P)
This 3.7V, 1600mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Becker Transit 7SL EU portable GPS navigator. It fits the Transit 7SL EU dashboard navigation unit used for European road guidance. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes the device to shut down mid-route.
- Transit 7SL EU fit: The Transit 7SL EU uses a flat Li-Polymer pouch cell on a 3.7V single-cell rail. This replacement matches the OEM cell dimensions at 52.50 × 42.50 × 6.00mm and uses compatible part references EU554751P, SR584450P, and Y16GCGAA1. The connector and BMS communication are unchanged from the original configuration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on GPS-class load profiles. The BMS held the low-voltage cutoff correctly and did not trip early under the combined draw of the GPS receiver and display backlight at full brightness.
- First fix after installation: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors in open sky. The Transit 7SL EU performs a cold start after any full power interruption — expect the first satellite fix to take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop well under a minute once almanac data is cached.
GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Transit 7SL EU
As the cell voltage drops toward the low-voltage threshold, the Transit 7SL EU can reduce RF receiver sensitivity to conserve power. This shows up as position drift or a weaker satellite count on the signal bar. It is not a GPS antenna fault — it is a power-management response to low cell voltage. Keeping the battery above 3.6V during active navigation prevents this behaviour.
Transit 7SL EU shuts off without a low-battery warning
After a battery replacement, the device's fuel gauge is uncalibrated against the new cell. The battery indicator may show two or three bars right up until the unit cuts off. This happens because the voltage-threshold lookup is still tuned to the discharge curve of the degraded original cell. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the indicator recalibrates — after that, the warning appears at the correct voltage.
