This is a 24V, 3700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Biosealer CR6 dental sealant applicator. It replaces OEM part number 170-2040 in the CR6 handheld unit. Capacity is matched to the original specification at 88.8Wh.
- CR6 platform fit: The CR6 uses a fixed 24V Ni-MH pack with a connector and BMS handshake tied to the 170-2040 specification. This replacement meets the same voltage rail and cell count so the device's charge controller recognises it without flagging a fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and full-load discharge on a simulated CR6 load profile. The BMS completed cell balancing without cutoff, and voltage held stable across the discharge curve through the first three cycles.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the CR6 complete its power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The device runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that does not clear until a full reboot.
Why the CR6 BMS rejects a new cell on first boot
The CR6 charge controller stores the previous cell's discharge signature. A fresh Ni-MH pack presents a different internal resistance profile, which can cause the BMS to flag the cell as mismatched on the first power-on. This is not a fault in the replacement cell — it is the controller comparing against stored values. Running one full charge-discharge cycle gives the BMS enough data to update its reference and accept the new pack. After that cycle, the alarm clears and does not return.
Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge
On the first charge, the CR6's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it does not recognise a seasoned cell profile. The indicator may stop climbing at 85–95% and hold there. This is the IC capping input voltage as a precaution, not a failed charge. Let the charge cycle complete fully without removing the battery early. After the first full cycle, the IC recalibrates and subsequent charges reach 100% normally — confirmed at 28.8V open-circuit at full charge.
