Bissell 2602Z / P2822-21 / 2602C — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (61-0088-010)
This 21.6V 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces part numbers 61-0088-010, 1618212, and 1620773 in Bissell cordless vacuums. It fits the 2602Z, P2822-21, and 2602C models. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a cleaning session.
- 2602Z, P2822-21, and 2602C compatibility: These three models share the same 21.6V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. A single cell services all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the 2602Z platform. The BMS held voltage within spec under sustained motor load and tripped correctly on overcurrent — no thermal runaway, no false low-cell shutoffs.
- Dock charging behaviour on this vacuum: Do not leave the 2602Z sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging degrades cell capacity significantly faster than charge-on-demand cycling. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The 2602Z motor draws harder when airflow is restricted — a clogged filter forces the motor to work beyond its rated current draw. The BMS interprets that sustained overcurrent as a low-cell condition and begins throttling power before the indicator LED registers low. The result is noticeably weaker suction while the battery still shows capacity. Clean or replace the filter first before assuming the battery is at fault.
Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the vacuum encounters a blockage — carpet pile, a tangled obstruction, or a restricted filter — the motor load spikes sharply. The BMS cuts output to protect the cells, then resets once current drops back to safe levels. Clear any blockage, check the filter, and restart. If the cutout repeats on clean carpet with a clean filter, check that cell voltage at rest reads at least 21V before assuming a faulty pack.
