This 14.4V 2500mAh (36Wh) Li-ion battery pack replaces the INR18650-4S1P-25 cell assembly in the Black+Decker HSVB42OJ handheld cordless vacuum. It uses a 4S1P 18650 cell configuration matched to the original voltage rail and BMS connector. Fit is direct — no modification needed.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the HSVB42OJ
A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated to maintain airflow. That elevated draw causes the 14.4V pack to sag under load — the motor slows and suction drops, but the battery indicator still reads mid-range because resting voltage recovers when suction is released. The BMS is not tripping; the cell voltage is genuinely sagging under the excess load. Clear or replace the filter first — if suction restores, the battery is not the fault.
Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the filter is restricted or a blockage increases motor resistance, current draw spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the pack disconnects. The BMS resets automatically after a short thermal or timer delay — that is the recovery you see. Check the filter and clear any blockage at the intake before replacing the battery. If the cutout continues on a clean filter with a new pack, the motor itself is drawing excess current and needs inspection.
