When cell voltage drops toward the low-end threshold — around 3.4V on this chemistry — some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge. Lucca 5.2 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator empties
This happens because the navigator's fuel gauge is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell of the same capacity but slightly different internal resistance can hit the device's voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen indicator reaches empty. The fix is to run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles — the device recalibrates its voltage-to-capacity mapping as it learns the new cell's curve. After the second full cycle, the warning indicator and actual shutoff should align.
