Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the DASH 3.5 after a cell swap
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff — typically around 3.5–3.6V under modem or display load — faster than the gauge expects. The phone reads 25% but the cell voltage has already dropped below the shutdown threshold. One complete discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap to the new cell's actual curve and eliminates the premature cutoff.
Device not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if this battery dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS will have entered lockout mode to prevent deep-discharge damage. The phone will show nothing — no charging indicator, no boot screen. Connect the phone to a wall adapter rated at least 1A and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC on the DASH 3.5 trickle-charges a locked-out cell at a low recovery current until the cell voltage rises above the BMS re-enable threshold of around 2.9V.
