On a fresh replacement cell, internal impedance is slightly higher than the aged cell the fuel gauge was calibrated against. The BMS reacts to the voltage drop and cuts power before the fuel gauge catches up. One full discharge-charge calibration cycle at standard charge rate resolves this for most units.
Phone not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the replacement cell voltage dropped below 2.5V before installation, the BMS enters a lockout state and refuses to accept a charge to protect the cell from unsafe recovery current. Connect the phone to a wall adapter — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC delivers a low-current trickle charge to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, which is typically 2.9V on BLU Studio devices. Once the device shows the charging indicator, normal charge rates resume automatically.
