- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Tank Li platform. The BMS accepted charge current without tripping, and the protection circuit responded correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated register.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
The BLU Tank Li uses a coulomb-counter fuel gauge that was calibrated against the original cell's internal resistance profile. A new cell has a different discharge curve, so the gauge miscalculates remaining capacity. Under modem activity or screen load, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the OS registers 0%. The fix is one full discharge-charge cycle with the phone screen at low brightness — this resets the coulomb counter baseline against the new cell.
OS reporting wrong battery percentage after cell swap
After installing a replacement cell, the fuel gauge IC still holds the learned capacity data from the degraded original battery. The percentage shown on screen reflects the old cell curve, not the new one. This causes readings that jump erratically or plateau at an incorrect figure. Run the phone down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after one full cycle the gauge re-anchors to the new cell's actual voltage range near 4.2V at full charge.
