Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The BHN16L motor controller reads voltage from the battery pack to set fan speed. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than rated to maintain airflow, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit expects. The indicator shows mid-charge while actual pack voltage has already sagged below the motor's efficient operating range. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery was not the cause. If the pack voltage at rest reads below 12.8V after a full charge, the cells have degraded and replacement is the next step.
Motor cuts out mid-use then restarts after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a power failure. The protection circuit cuts output when current draw spikes above the trip threshold — most often caused by a blocked filter or nozzle forcing the motor to work against restricted airflow. The BMS resets automatically once current normalises, which is why the vacuum restarts on its own. Clear any blockage and check the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If the cutout persists on an unobstructed vacuum, check that pack voltage under load does not drop below 10.8V, which would indicate cell degradation rather than a BMS trip.
