Bosch GSR Mx2Drive Series — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT504)
This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Bosch GSR Mx2Drive compact drill-driver. It also fits the GSR PRODRIVE, PS10, and related models sharing the BAT504 form factor. Voltage and capacity match the original Bosch specification exactly.
- GSR Mx2Drive platform fit: The Mx2Drive, PRODRIVE, and PS10 share the same 3.6V single-cell Li-ion architecture and proprietary snap connector. All models use the same BMS handshake protocol, so one battery design covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the GSR Mx2Drive platform. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start inrush current on trigger pull, holding the rail steady without tripping overcurrent protection under normal fastening loads.
- First-use load conditioning on the Mx2Drive: Run the drill at half torque for the first two cycles before applying maximum load. This gives the BMS time to profile the motor's inrush draw and calibrate its overcurrent threshold before you push the tool hard.
BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush in the GSR Mx2Drive
The GSR Mx2Drive motor draws a sharp current spike the instant the trigger is pulled. On a new or deeply discharged pack, the BMS may read this spike as an overcurrent event and cut the output rail before the motor spins up. This is a protection response, not a defective battery. Letting the pack complete one full charge cycle before heavy use allows the BMS to set a more accurate overcurrent threshold for this motor's inrush profile.
Charger not recognising the BAT504 pack after storage
If the BAT504 has sat unused for several months, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the charger will refuse to begin a charge cycle. Place the pack in the charger and leave it connected for 10–15 minutes; many Bosch chargers include a recovery trickle mode that slowly raises cell voltage to the acceptance window. If the charge indicator stays unresponsive after 20 minutes, check cell voltage directly — a reading below 2.0V indicates the cell has discharged past safe recovery. A healthy recovered cell will read at least 3.0V before the charger enters its main charge phase.
