BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush during rapid nail driving
Every time the BCF28WWB fires, the solenoid or drive motor pulls a sharp current spike at the moment of actuation. If the BMS has not profiled this inrush pattern — common with a fresh or storage-rested pack — it may read the spike as a fault and cut output. This manifests as the tool going dead mid-sequence, then recovering after a few seconds. Running two or three slower break-in cycles gives the BMS enough data to set a stable overcurrent threshold for this tool's specific load signature.
Charger blinks red and won't accept the pack after storage
Li-ion packs stored without a maintenance charge can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage — typically under 2.5V per cell. Most Bostitch 20V chargers won't initiate a full charge cycle below this threshold, and instead signal a fault with a red blink pattern. To recover the pack, some chargers have a "wake" or "force" mode; if yours does not, a brief trickle charge from a compatible lab supply to bring cell voltage above 3.0V per cell will allow the standard charger to take over. Check the total pack voltage first — a fully discharged 5-cell 20V pack should read above 15V before the charger will accept it.
