This is a 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Braun Perfusor Space infusion pump. It replaces OEM part number 8713030 and restores portable operation and mains-backup function to the pump. Capacity matches OEM specification at 24Wh.
- Perfusor Space platform compatibility: The Perfusor Space uses a dedicated battery bay with a proprietary connector keyed to 12V Ni-MH chemistry. The pump's charge controller and BMS handshake are calibrated to this voltage rail — substituting a different chemistry or voltage causes immediate fault flags and prevents operation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and load cycles on a Perfusor Space unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, the charge IC brought the pack to full without interruption, and the pump completed its power-on self-test sequence cleanly.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Perfusor Space to complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The pump runs BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this window triggers a battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
Why the Perfusor Space rejects a new battery during its first charge cycle
The Perfusor Space charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it first sees a new cell. This is intentional — the controller checks internal resistance before committing to a full charge profile. A new Ni-MH cell presents slightly different resistance characteristics than a broken-in pack, which can cause the charge indicator to stall below 100% on the first cycle. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the controller recalibrates its thresholds to the new cell's actual resistance profile. After that first cycle, charge behaviour normalises.
Perfusor Space alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
This alarm triggers when the BMS self-test threshold, calibrated to a conditioned OEM cell, does not yet recognise the new pack's capacity signature. The pump samples voltage under load during startup — a new cell with no discharge history can show a transient voltage dip that the BMS reads as insufficient charge. This is not a faulty battery. Run one full charge-discharge cycle to allow the BMS to establish a baseline for the new cell. After conditioning, the alarm clears and the battery status reads correctly at full charge.
