Capacity fade from constant top-off charging on the Big Blue Party
Most Big Blue Party units live plugged in at a desk or near a power source between uses. Keeping a Li-ion pack between 80–100% continuously accelerates cathode degradation — the cells spend almost no time in the mid-range where Li-ion chemistry is most stable. After several months of this, total capacity drops noticeably even though the pack is technically healthy. To slow this down, let the speaker discharge below 20% at least once a month before recharging to full.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
At high volume, the amplifier in the Big Blue Party draws a sharp current spike. When cell voltage sags under that load — typically below 9.9V on a three-cell pack — the amplifier clips before the battery indicator registers low. The distortion is a voltage problem, not an audio processing fault. Turn volume down one or two steps: if the clipping stops, the pack is near end-of-charge and the indicator is lagging the real cell state.
