About this replacement
BT Elements 1K — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (043048)
This is a 3.7V 650mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the BT Elements 1K cordless DECT handset. It fits directly into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell has degraded or failed. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification (043048).
- Elements 1K handset compatibility: The Elements 1K uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with the 043048 footprint. The BMS in the handset reads cell voltage on contact — a cell outside the acceptance window will prevent the handset from powering on, so voltage tolerance matters here.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, completed a full charge cycle without error, and held resting voltage within spec after a 24-hour standby period.
- First charge on the Elements 1K: After fitting this battery, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in storage-state charge need a complete first cycle to calibrate the handset's fuel gauge accurately.
Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new cell
A new Li-ion cell fresh from storage will often show reduced talk time on the first one or two cycles. This happens because the cell hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle and the handset's internal gauge is reading from an uncalibrated baseline. Run two or three complete cycles — full charge in the base, then use until the handset warns low — and talk time will normalise. After three cycles the cell should be delivering its rated 650mAh.
Handset loses its DECT pairing after battery replacement
Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to volatile memory, which can erase the stored pairing with the base station. The Elements 1K will show "searching" or fail to register on the network after a cold battery swap. To re-pair, hold the registration button on the base station until it enters pairing mode, then follow the handset menu to re-register. The process takes under two minutes and the handset retains the same internal number as before.
