Bushnell Neo Ghost / Neo Ghost 2015 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AE542730P)
This 3.7V, 400mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Bushnell Neo Ghost and Neo Ghost 2015 golf GPS devices (model 368224). It fits the compact battery bay directly and connects to the same BMS interface as the original. Capacity matches the factory specification at 400mAh (1.48Wh).
- Neo Ghost and Neo Ghost 2015 compatibility: Both the original Neo Ghost and the 2015 revision use the same 29.40 × 25.20 × 6.20 mm cell format with a matching connector pinout and BMS handshake — one cell covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on Neo Ghost hardware. The BMS accepted charge cleanly, voltage held steady across GPS acquisition and active course navigation, and the low-battery cutoff triggered at the expected threshold without premature shutdown.
- First-use satellite acquisition: After fitting this cell, power the device on outdoors and let it run a full cold-start GPS fix before taking it onto the course. A cold start after any full power loss takes 5–10 minutes for first lock — every subsequent power-on will reconnect in under a minute.
Satellite lock taking longer after battery replacement on the Neo Ghost
Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris data — the almanac of satellite positions it uses to lock quickly. With that data gone, the unit performs a cold start and must rebuild its satellite picture from scratch. This is normal behaviour, not a fault with the new cell. Power on outdoors with a clear sky view and allow 5–10 minutes for the first fix; from that point forward, warm starts will lock in under a minute.
Neo Ghost shutting off without low-battery warning
The Neo Ghost's battery indicator is calibrated to the charge curve of the original cell. When the replacement cell is new, the indicator's internal model can be slightly out of sync, causing the device to hit its voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen warning fires. This gap closes after two or three full charge and discharge cycles as the device recalibrates its fuel gauge. If the device shuts off abruptly, recharge fully and repeat — after a few cycles, the warning should reappear before shutdown at approximately 3.2V.
