This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH backup battery for the CaddX ZeroWire Control Panel and ZW-6404-NL. It slots in as the standby cell that keeps the panel alive when mains power drops. When the original cell degrades, the panel loses its ability to maintain alarm capability during an outage — this replaces it.

  • ZeroWire and ZW-6404-NL compatibility: Both panels share the same 7.2V backup rail and ZW-BS01 connector footprint. The BMS on each draws float charge from the same charging circuit, so the same cell works across both without modification.

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell needs time on the panel's float charger before it can deliver enough current to sustain panel memory during a mains dropout. If the outage happens within the first 48 hours, the cell may not hold sufficient voltage, causing the panel to lose its programmed zones and user codes. The ZeroWire panel stores configuration in RAM backed by the standby cell — if cell voltage sags below the panel's hold threshold, that data clears. Install the new cell, restore mains power, and leave the panel undisturbed for 48 hours before deliberately testing backup operation.

The ZeroWire panel does not clear its low-battery flag the moment a charged cell is connected. The BMS checks cell voltage at timed intervals and only resets the fault once the cell has sustained float voltage — typically 8.4–8.64V for a 7.2V Ni-MH pack — for a full charge cycle. Fitting the cell and immediately powering up will often leave the low-battery warning on screen for several hours. Leave the panel on mains for 24–48 hours; the flag will clear automatically once the BMS confirms the cell is holding the correct float voltage.
