This 3.7V 5200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the CalAmp TTU-1200 and TTU-2800 GPS tracking units. Both devices are fleet management and asset tracking hardware used in vehicle and equipment monitoring. Capacity is 5200mAh (19.24Wh) — matching the original spec exactly.

Why the TTU-1200 shuts off without warning at low battery

The TTU-1200 uses a voltage-threshold cutoff to protect the cell from deep discharge. After a new battery is fitted, the fuel gauge IC takes several charge-discharge cycles to recalibrate its state-of-charge curve. Until it recalibrates, the device can hit the hard cutoff voltage — typically around 3.0V — before the low-battery indicator has time to alert the user. Running two full charge-discharge cycles after installation lets the gauge settle and restores accurate shutdown warnings.

GPS accuracy dropping during active tracking sessions

Some GPS tracking units reduce receiver sensitivity as battery voltage sags below a mid-range threshold — this lowers current draw but degrades positional accuracy. On the TTU platform, this shows up as increased position error or wider scatter in logged coordinates during long active tracking runs. The fix is straightforward: check that the vehicle's charging circuit is keeping the unit topped up during operation. If the unit is running purely on battery without an external charge source, expect reduced receiver performance once cell voltage drops below approximately 3.5V.
