This 11.1V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power pack in the Capillus 272 laser hair growth cap. It fits the 272-diode LLLT cap that delivers low-level laser therapy directly to the scalp. When the original cell degrades and the cap stops holding a charge through a full treatment session, this is the direct replacement.
- Capillus 272 cap compatibility: The 272 cap runs a fixed 11.1V rail to power all 272 laser diodes simultaneously. Any replacement must match that voltage precisely — a cell with a different nominal output will either fail the BMS handshake or under-drive the diode array, reducing therapy output without any obvious error signal.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Capillus 272 charging circuit and confirmed the BMS correctly balanced all three cells, triggered protection at appropriate low-voltage cutoff, and accepted a full charge without fault codes.
- Port condition before charging: If the cap has been worn during scalp treatments where topical products are applied, clean the charging port with a dry cotton swab before connecting. Residue from minoxidil or other topical solutions can bridge the charging contacts and trigger a BMS protection fault that reads as a dead battery.
Battery fade from daily top-up charging on the Capillus 272
Most Capillus 272 users charge after every single session, which means the cells rarely complete a full discharge-to-charge cycle. Over time, this causes gauge drift — the BMS loses accurate track of true capacity and may report full charge when the actual usable capacity has dropped significantly. The 3S1P cell configuration is particularly sensitive to this because one slightly weaker cell in the series chain pulls the whole pack's cutoff earlier. Running the cap until it powers off, then doing a complete charge from flat, recalibrates the fuel gauge and often recovers reported capacity.
Cap powers on but laser output feels weaker partway through a session
This happens when the pack voltage sags under the combined load of all 272 diodes but hasn't yet hit the BMS low-voltage cutoff. The diodes stay on, but output drops as cell voltage falls below the stable operating threshold. It's a sign the cells have aged past their usable capacity, not a firmware or diode fault. Check resting pack voltage after a session — if it reads below 10.5V, the cells are no longer holding sufficient charge and the pack needs replacement.
