The ECG200L runs a BMS learn cycle during its first few boot sequences with a new cell. A fresh Ni-MH pack straight from packaging sits at a resting voltage that can fall slightly below the device's boot-confidence threshold — particularly after storage. If the unit stalls mid-boot, connect it to mains power and allow it to charge uninterrupted for a full cycle before attempting battery-only operation. The BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate after one complete charge-discharge pass, and normal boot behaviour typically resumes from the second cycle onward.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens because the ECG200L's battery monitor compares cell voltage against a reference table calibrated to a conditioned OEM pack. A new replacement cell holds a slightly different voltage curve until it has completed one full charge-discharge cycle, so the device reads it as below threshold even when the charge indicator shows full. Run one complete cycle — full charge, then use the device until it prompts for charge again — before trusting the battery indicator in clinical use. After that cycle, the voltage curve aligns and the alarm clears at the correct state of charge.
