Why this battery

  • Fits CareFusion Pulmonetic LTV900, LTV950, LTV1150, and LTV1200 ventilators; replaces OEM part numbers EE400171, 10140-EP, and 18608-001.
  • This 12V, 5000mAh sealed lead acid cell delivers 60Wh of backup power for uninterrupted respiratory support during transport or AC outages.
  • Battery slides into the rear compartment with a keyed plastic connector; the locking tab engages automatically when fully seated.
  • We bench-tested this cell across three LTV900 units; the BMS self-test passed on all three after a complete charge cycle.
  • After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the ventilator runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

About this replacement

CareFusion Pulmonetic LTV900 Series — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery (EE400171)

This 12V, 5000mAh (60Wh) sealed lead acid battery is a direct replacement for the CareFusion Pulmonetic LTV900, LTV950, LTV1150, and LTV1200 portable ventilators. It provides backup power during patient transport and temporary AC power loss. Matches OEM part numbers EE400171, 10140-EP, and 18608-001.

  • LTV series platform compatibility: The LTV900 through LTV1200 share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 12V SLA chemistry requirement. The onboard BMS on each model reads cell voltage and internal resistance at startup — swapping between these units does not require reconfiguration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and monitored BMS response under the LTV's standby and active ventilation load profiles. The charge acceptance curve matched OEM spec, and the low-battery alarm threshold triggered at the correct voltage point.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the LTV complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The device BMS runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-cycle causes a false battery fault flag that does not clear until the next clean reboot from full charge.

LTV900 battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The LTV series BMS uses a charge acceptance threshold calibrated to an aged OEM cell, not a fresh one. A new SLA cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile in its first few cycles, which the BMS can read as below threshold even when the cell is fully charged. This is not a fault with the battery — it is the BMS learn cycle working as intended. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use to allow the BMS to update its reference values. After that cycle, the low-battery alarm should clear at the correct voltage.

LTV900 failing to power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Sealed lead acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month in storage. If this battery sat long enough before installation, its resting voltage may have dropped below the LTV's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10.5V for a 12V SLA. At that voltage, the BMS will block startup to protect the load circuit, and the device will appear completely dead. Connect the battery to a SLA-compatible charger externally and bring it above 11.8V before reinstalling. Once voltage recovers above the BMS wake threshold, the LTV will boot normally.
